One of the oldest songs that I’ve written that is going to be included on my upcoming EP is “Beauty.” I wrote this song during my freshman year in college. This time of my life was filled with answers to my questions, doubts and insecurities that had built up over the years. I cried out to God…What makes me beautiful to someone? Will any man ever see me for who I truly am and still call me beautiful? If need be, am I content being single – just me and the Lord – for the rest of my life?…God abounded with answers to these questions. And my heart poured out into this song. My favorite line (and one that I still repeat to myself time and time again) is, “The time will come when beauty fades, and the only thing that matters is the heart that remains.” I am so glad the Lord has brought me to the point in my life, where I find my beauty first and foremost in Him. But, God knows it hasn’t always been this way.

I’m going to start a “Behind the Music” series on my blog. The purpose will be to tell the story behind the music I’ve written. I know a song always speaks to me more, when I know the meaning behind it. And I thought it might be especially neat, because I’ll be releasing new music in just a couple weeks! Album update: Everything is almost finished with the EP! There are going to be six songs (officially) on the album. However, I am going to be offering a 7th song as a bonus track digital download that I hope you all will really like! It didn’t end up fitting with the theme of the EP, but I really love the song and want to share with you guys. Mixing and mastering is now being completed. I should have an estimated “release date” soon! Thanks for everyone’s support. I’m humbled that there are people out there actually willing to BUY my music! Haha. Love you all, have a blessed day!
Finished recording vocals for the EP this week!! I am really excited about how everything is coming together! The songs are really sounding great and I can’t wait to share the music with everyone. 
The title of the EP is going to be “New Day,” and I think it sums up perfectly the theme behind this whole project. The chorus of the title track says, “Chasing away, the memories of yesterday, living each day as a new day. We lay down it all, our burdens will fall, so that You’ll pick up where we left off…” The message I want to get across, is the idea of God being the source of our strength each day. God can handle every single burden we carry…and the coolest thing, is that He wants to!
1 Peter 5:7 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”
We’ve had a pretty difficult year and half. Those of you who know us, know that. No need to dwell on the specifics. Yet, we are lifted up and given strength to make it through each day with the help of the Lord! His purpose is greater than what we can see. I wish tragedy on no one…but I also hope and pray that you’ll never get too comfortable with your life that you don’t realize your need for Jesus anymore.
People frequently ask me, after hearing of the trials and circumstances I’ve been through in my life,”How were you able to turn out the way you did? You seem to have things together so well.” And all I can say is, God’s grace…and being able to look at each and every day as a “new day.”
