Watermark Worship
Two years ago I sat down to write my first "worship" song. I was reading Scripture and was inspired by this verse in Psalms.
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. - Psalm 18:2
Stronghold. A word that is not commonly used today, at least not in a positive sense. But I am so thankful that God is my strength and more specifically, the true stronghold in my life. He lifts me, He carries me, He saves me. I need Him everyday.
So this song really began my journey into writing more corporate worship music. I have always been the "story-teller" type of songwriter, just writing what goes on in my life. This is what comes most naturally for me. But in the past couple years, writing songs that people can sing and cry out to God has become an exciting challenge! What do I want to say to God? What do I want to praise Him for? These questions fuel my writing. And I have been so blessed to find awesome people to share this passion with.
The Watermark Worship album is a collection of songs written by my good friends, Tim and Emily Flowers, Bradley Roper and myself (with a few covers you may be familiar with). They are so talented and passionate about worship and leading others to Jesus. I miss these guys so much! It was such a blessing to be able to record this album for Watermark Church. All the proceeds will go to fund mission trips around the world!! This warms my heart. Know that your money is a donation to further God's kingdom, not a paycheck for any of us.
