I am excited to announce that I will now be offering...

I have enjoyed teaching guitar and voice lessons for the past 5+ years. I majored in Music in college and just love everything about equipping others to learn and grow musically. It burdens my heart that the arts are being taken out of schools right and left. That was my favorite part of my educational experience growing up! I cannot imagine what life would have been like for me had I not been involved in band, chorus and musical theater from elementary to high school.

After moving twice and having to give up the lessons I was teaching, I began brainstorming of a better way to do this.

And then it came to me... hello, video chatting!

I have already taught a couple lessons online and it works great! The nice thing about using a computer for lessons, is you can have all of your chords, notes, etc. right there in front of you without printing out a million pieces of paper or carrying around a notebook to keep track of (that was one of the most time-consuming parts of teaching lessons - writing out the notes!) I also love that I can record practice videos for you to practice during the week.

PLUS, the real kicker about this whole thing...

You can do it all in the comfort of your own home!! Never be late for a lesson again. :)

Main Point: Show your faith by helping someone in need.

“What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions?” James 2:14. The big question for the night was, “If you were put on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?” Sometimes we know just the right “Christian” thing to say, don’t we? Our prayers sound fancy, but they lack a humble heart. We wear the Christian T-shirts that says, “Jesus is my homeboy” or “God answers Knee-mail!” Maybe even a Jesus fish on your bumper. What are we doing to show our faith to people in need? We learned that we cannot earn salvation (Ephesians 2:8-10). We are not saved by good works but saved FOR good works! If you are a follower of Christ, it should be completely obvious! Students were encouraged to find practical ways to serve others this week!

I am officially back to work. I cannot believe how fast this summer flew by! It was filled with so many wonderful trips and opportunities... I wish I could do it all over again. Instead, I am left to revisit all my blog posts of the past couple months and embrace nostalgia. But you know, I probably didn't blog enough of the great memories of this summer and for that I am very disappointed. But I am trying to change that and keep this blog updated a bit more. :) On that note... August is a sneaky, little month. 

I always forget that it's coming so soon (more like, dreading it). And this year we started back sooo early... on my mom's birthday, as a matter of fact - August 5th (public schools don't start back until the 15th). But don't feel too sorry for me, there are definitely some benefits of starting back early. We get a fall break AND a thanksgiving break, plus a pretty long Christmas break (a month long!) so I am more than content. I am loving my schedule so far too - I have four classes a day, including a high school chorus that I'm really excited about teaching (looking for great Christmas music/musicals right now, by the way, so feel free to leave me any suggestions!) I love being with kids all day, it makes me even more excited about having my own one day! Although, I've learned that my stern face comes a lot easier than I would have thought. Teaching has become a passion for me. Surprisingly so. Probably because I get to teach one of my greatest passions since I was a young girl... music. :)
